If the words “contrabassoon” and “solo” pique your interest, then the Berg Kammerkonzert might just be the piece for you. In most pieces contrabassoon is just used as for the purpose of providing a low base line for the woodwinds, however you will find the subtle “moans” of the instrument come through at various points during the piece.
